オートフォーカス化の方法

　�@ニコンのデジタル一眼を用意する。TC16aで焦点距離が1.6倍になるので、カメラはフルサイズが望ましい（D700が推奨）
　�AAFテレコンバーターTC-16aを購入し、マウントのピンの配置を変更する。
　　　変更の方法はネット上でも公開されているが、「工房NOCTO」さんなどでも改造してくれるようである（有料）。
　�BタンバールをNikonマウント化する。
　　　・タンバールのレンズユニットを外し、ニコンマウント用に用意したアダプターに取り付ける。
　　　・私のアダプターは外部工房製であるが、マウント部・ﾍﾘｺｲﾄﾞ部・接続部など既存部品の組み合わせであるので、作成できそうだ。
　�CD700の設定変更をする。（絞り制御をサブコマンドダイヤルではなく絞りリングで行う方法に変更）
　�Dあとは撮影するだけだが、TC16aのAF駆動範囲はあまり広くないので、撮影の際は予め粗々に距離は合わせておいたほうがよい。

　ピントの精度はなかなかのものである。驚きはそのスピードで、まさに「一瞬」でピントが来る。ライカ長焦点レンズでの撮影はライカ距離計の基線長の短さ、ファインダーでの撮影範囲の小ささなど、いくつかの課題があり、スナップ撮影をするのはつい逡巡してしまうことが多い。また一眼での撮影でもタンバールのようなソフトレンズはなかなかピントの山がつかみにくいという難点がある。このＡＦ機能はこれらをかなりすっきりと解決してくれる手段だと思われる。

他のレンズは？
　�@ヘクトール73�oはタンバールとほぼ同様の手法で可能である。上記レンズ写真4枚目の左のレンズがヘクトールである。
　�Aズミクロン50mmも一部レンズではヘッド部分が外れるので、同様に可能と思われるが、まだ試していない。
　�BＲレンズはマウントを付け替えるだけで、ＡＦ化が可能。上記写真4枚目の右がズミルックスＲ50ｍｍｆ1.4である。
　　　Ｒレンズとニコンとはバックフォーカスが逆転しているが、市販されているキットでマウント部分と入れ替えれば比較的容易にニコンになる。
　�C手元にあるコンタレックス用のプラナー55ｍｍｆ1.4とディスタゴン25ｍｍｆ2.8がニコンマウントである。こちらも見事にＡＦで撮影可能。
　　　マウント加工はＮＯＣＴＯさんにお願いした。

How to accomplish AF Thambar?

--(1) Buy Nikon AF digital camera with 'Full size Cmos'. I recomend D700.
--(2) Buy Nikon AF converter TC16a. Modify the position of mount pin desirably. You can find methods on Internet, otherwise some workshops shall accept the modificaion with proper charge.
--(3) Change mount of Thambar into Nikon F.
. . . . -Remove lens head of Thambar to fix the mount adapter into Nikon mount. My adapter was made by some shop, but I suppose some workshop can make it using several 2nd hand parts.
--(4)Change setting of D700 to make it control apperture with apperture ring in stead of Sub Command Dial.
--(5)Shoot! Be aware that the AF range of TC16a is not so wide, you had better to set distance roughly before using AF function.

Other lens?
--(1)Hektor 73mmf1.9 can be AF by the same method with Thambar. The left lens of 4th photo above is that Hektor in Nikon F mount.
--(2)Some Summicron 50mmf2 whose lens head is removal seems to be OK with the same method, however I have not yet tried.7
--(3)Leica R lens are somehow easier to modify into Nikon F mount with the modificaion Kit despite the backfocus of Nikon is shorter than Leica R.
--(4)My Planar 55mmf1.4 and Distagon 25mmf2.8 originally for Contarex are already with Nikon F mount. I Tried with D700 and TC16a which worked so smoothly.
